Join us on an exciting journey at ‘Shaping the Future with Green Roads,’ a special collaboration between the Asian Development Bank, the International Roads Federation, and MetaMeta. This event marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to develop a Green Roads Toolkit, aimed at supporting the Asian Development Bank in better planning and preparing for future road investments. This toolkit is set to redefine the very landscape of road project investments as it steps beyond the familiar priorities of connectivity, safety, and affordability, embracing a holistic and sustainable perspective.
Unlike traditional approaches, our toolkit is designed to align with global conventions, presenting a visionary approach in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Biodiversity Convention, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It introduces a comprehensive menu of practical options across nine dimensions, ensuring that roads not only connect destinations but also serve as catalysts for positive change. These dimensions include: (1) Support Decarbonization; (2) Contribute to Climate Resilience; (3) Support Water and Land Management; (4) Reduce Pollution; (5) Improve Quality of Life; (6) Preserve Biodiversity; (7) Improve Disaster Preparedness; (8) Apply Sustainable Sourcing of Materials and Construction Practices; and (9) Foster Inclusive Growth
