The “Shaping the Future with Green Roads” webinar, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Roads Federation (IRF), and MetaMeta, successfully concluded on December 7, 2023. This webinar:
- discussed the challenges highlighted in Ben Goldfarb’s book regarding the impact of roads on landscapes and ecology
- introduced systematic solutions from the Green Roads Toolkit, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift in road infrastructure practices
- and showcased inspiring global practices aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of roads, while also exploring how roads can actively contribute to broader objectives such as decarbonization, climate resilience, biodiversity preservation, and inclusive growth.
By bringing together diverse perspectives and innovative strategies, the webinar provided valuable insights into shaping a future where roads not only connect communities but also contribute positively to environmental sustainability and societal well-being.
